HEALTH ISN’T ONE THING
If I did this one thing….everything would be different!
I have for sure heard this phrase before regarding multiple things in people’s lives.
The one thing this idea doesn’t really apply to is health.
At The Specific Chiropractic Centers we say that health is a multifaceted approach.
I’m sure you know someone who appears to be super healthy, eats well, does everything right, but is constantly sick or suddenly has a heart attack, gets cancer, or some other ailment suddenly pops up out of nowhere it seems!
I like to think that optimal health is comprised of 5 things.
1.Proper Sleep
Sleep is something that can definitely be overlooked by a lot of people. Tons of reparative and restorative functions occur in the body when you sleep at night. It is recommended that we receive 6-8 hours of sleep each night. What’s interesting is everyone’s sleep seems to differ. There are people who are extremely light sleepers to those who are basically in a coma. Regardless of which one you are sleep is vital to our overall health.
2.Health Nutrition
This one may seem obvious but we still need to talk about. We don’t really do any sort of nutritional counseling in the office but we know it is vital. In general it is smart to avoid processed foods and sugars especially. If you are at the store and confused as to what to get it is best to shop the edges of the store. The edges usually contain the foods that aren’t processed but rather whole foods.
3.Exercise
I’ll be the first to admit that this is something that I used to really struggle with. I knew it was important but I hated the gym and working out. It wasn’t until I got someone that held me accountable and also gave me workouts to do each time I went to the gym, now it’s something I really enjoy. With that being said you don’t have to go to the gym to get exercise. Pick whatever works best for you!
4.Positive Mental Attitude
This is one that is often overlooked. How we thing and who we surround ourselves with has a major impact on our overall health. Have you ever noticed in a time where you are really stressed out you tend to feel worse and may often catch a cold.
By remaining positive and seeing the good in things it will have a positive impact on your overall health as well.
5.Healthy Functioning Nervous System
This is what we focus on at The Specific Chiropractic Centers Lake Country. If the brain isn’t communicating properly with the rest of the body then the body isn’t working at its optimal potential. We make sure that these messages are being transmitted how they are supposed to making it so you function better and ultimately feel a heck of a lot better. If this isn’t working how it’s supposed to then everything above isn’t going to be as effective as it could be.
If you’re curious about any of this stuff reach out to us! We have partnered with multiple practitioners who are experts in these other areas we don’t focus on.

Can Neck Pain Cause Headaches
When I was a kid we went on a couple vacations every year. Growing up in Wisconsin during spring break heading south was pretty standard for many families. After months of frigid cold temps and snow, the idea of traveling to warm weather was very much welcomed!
What a TMJ Headache Is Telling You
Have you ever eaten a bunch of starbursts? When I was in high school I would always get starbursts from the vending machines. I would go through the whole pack in the course of an afternoon…at the same time I would notice that my jaw would get a little sore from all the chewing I would be doing…as they can be quite hard sometimes!
