Chiropractic for Neck Pain
There is nothing worse than struggling with neck pain every single day! You have that constant ache and kink in your neck no matter how you move your head or neck, no matter what kind of pillow you try, no matter how many stretches, exercises, or massages you’ve had. At this point you may start wondering about chiropractic for neck pain and maybe that is the ticket? Chiropractic is something that can definitely help with neck pain and at The Specific Chiropractic Center we help people with chronic neck pain all the time.
Neck pain is usually caused by an imbalance in musculature which then sends signals to the brain stating that something is wrong. Our body’s way of telling us that something is wrong is usually through a message of pain. This is a healthy response but when this process is non stop it can get pretty annoying! If our body didn’t have this response we could potentially be in a lot of trouble. We would never know if something is wrong with our body and that could cause a lot more harm. So even though we may be experiencing pain, in the end it is usually the proper response.
Chiropractic for Neck Pain
Let’s first start out with what chiropractic is in general. When most people think of a chiropractor they think of their head, neck, and back getting twisted/cracked. This certainly can be the case at some chiropractic offices. The thought of this happening to you can definitely be intimidating as it is kind of scary. What’s great is there are different techniques when it comes to chiropractic so this way of adjusting doesn’t hold true for all offices.
At The Specific Chiropractic Center we do NOT adjust this way which a lot of people are thankful for. We will get into the specifics (pun intended) of how we adjust in a little bit.
So we know that a muscular imbalance is usually the cause of neck pain…whether it be acute or chronic. Why might this imbalance be going on in the first place? This is usually due to a misalignment of the spine in the neck. If there is a misalignment the body doesn’t like this, especially in the cervical (neck) region. A misalignment in this area will cause the head to sit crooked. We get most of our information from our head so it is pretty important for this to be sitting straight! When we have a misalignment and this is sitting crooked the body will start engaging muscles in the neck to try and pull the head straight.
This is a positive response as the body is trying to fix the issue! When this continues to be the case for days, weeks, months, or even years we will definitely start to have tension and pain in our neck. There is really only one way to fix this problem. Things like muscle relaxers, massage, and other modalities will definitely help provide relief but we need to fix the misalignment that is causing this muscular imbalance in the first place!
The Specific Chiropractic Centers – Naples
What’s really cool is what we do at The Specific Naples is exactly what we are talking about. During someone’s initial visit we start off by going over the health history. This can determine how this problem might have begun and gives us an idea of how long it has actually been going on. A lot of times symptoms are the last thing to show up when we have an issue within our body. Once we get this figured out we start doing some scans of the nervous system. This tells us if the body is communicating properly with itself or if there is a break in the communication somewhere. We do a bunch of scans of the neck along with some full spine scans.
Another important thing we do at the first visit is a very specific set of x-rays. A lot can be told about a person’s health by x-rays…especially when we are talking about neck pain. We see a lot of people with abnormal posture and abnormal curves in their neck. Both of these can obviously lead to neck pain! When we take x-rays we actually put the neck into motion. This allows us to see how things are moving and if they are moving correctly or incorrectly. By doing this we can figure out how the adjustment needs to be done!
When it comes to the adjustment we use this special table that you somewhat kneel over and place your head on. The head is turned to the right or to the left, depending on how the adjustment needs to be done. The table makes it so we don’t have to twist someone’s head or neck as they stay in one position and it also makes it so we can get ultra specific with the adjustment, rather than it being somewhat general.
We know how uncomfortable neck pain can be and how an adjustment or too many adjustments can aggravate it even more which is why we practice this specific way. After we make an adjustment we have you lay down in a zero gravity chair with a comfy bone pillow and cozy blanket to allow your body to process the adjustment and make the adjustment last longer than if you were to walk right out of the office after getting adjusted.
By going to the right Chiropractor and getting regular visits your neck pain can definitely be helped and potentially go away for good! Our goal is to get the body back in alignment, get communication within the nervous system back to normal, and get people feeling better. We always tell people that feeling follows function and once we get everything back to working 100% you will start to feel better! If you are someone who struggles with neck pain then feel free to reach out to us and set up a complimentary consultation, it can’t hurt to see if what we do can help you out!

Can Neck Pain Cause Headaches
When I was a kid we went on a couple vacations every year. Growing up in Wisconsin during spring break heading south was pretty standard for many families. After months of frigid cold temps and snow, the idea of traveling to warm weather was very much welcomed!
What a TMJ Headache Is Telling You
Have you ever eaten a bunch of starbursts? When I was in high school I would always get starbursts from the vending machines. I would go through the whole pack in the course of an afternoon…at the same time I would notice that my jaw would get a little sore from all the chewing I would be doing…as they can be quite hard sometimes!
