Keep Your Head On A Swivel
Look over here!
Now turn and look behind you while backing up the car!
Don’t miss out on that homerun just hit!
Those all sound like pretty simple things to do on a day to day basis.
Even when you’re driving you have to check for oncoming traffic when coming to an intersection by turning your head.
If you aren’t able to turn your head fully then you definitely have an issue in your day-to-day life. What I find in the office is a lot of people have issues with turning their head but learn to live with it. Instead they just turn their entire body, which is understandable.
The problem with this is overtime, not turning your head, will lead to eventual structural changes in your body. It’s almost like the idea of if you don’t move it you lose it as you may start to experience arthritic changes.
So how to change this!
Well there are many options. Some people will do exercises, stretches, acupuncture, massage, or physical therapy.
What’s crazy is when you think of turning your head you think of the entire neck being in charge….which is somewhat correct.
Up to 50% of the rotation of your head is due to the top 2 bones in the neck. If you have some sort problem turning your head it could definitely be tied to the top 2 bones in the neck which are the atlas (C1) and axis (C2). The are the only vertebra in the entire spine that aren’t locked into place allowing for all of that rotation to take place. The Atlas is what supports the entire head which is understandable how these 2 bones alone make up so much of head rotation.
At The Specific Chiropractic Centers we focus on the top 2 bones in the neck. Countless people have come into the office without their main complaint being turning of their head but often times will comment on how much free-er their head and neck feels once under care. They don’t have to give that sigh or moan when trying to turn their head to back out of a parking spot, riding a motorcycle, watching a homerun be hit, or anything else that requires quick action.
By making sure those top 2 bones are in alignment and that the nervous system is working at 100% we are able to get people’s bodies working correctly which allows them to feel a heck of a lot better. Can Neck Pain Cause Headaches
When I was a kid we went on a couple vacations every year. Growing up in Wisconsin during spring break heading south was pretty standard for many families. After months of frigid cold temps and snow, the idea of traveling to warm weather was very much welcomed!
What a TMJ Headache Is Telling You
Have you ever eaten a bunch of starbursts? When I was in high school I would always get starbursts from the vending machines. I would go through the whole pack in the course of an afternoon…at the same time I would notice that my jaw would get a little sore from all the chewing I would be doing…as they can be quite hard sometimes!
